Revelation 7:1–17 (ESV):
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
5 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
6 12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
7 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,

8 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,

12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Revelation 6:1–17 (ESV):
6 Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.
5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!”
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This song, “Christ Will Be My Hideaway,” based on Psalm 91, was sung before the message, a reminder of the sure hope and strong Saviour we have in Christ.
Revelation 5:1–10 (CSB)
5 Then I saw in the right hand of the one seated on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides, sealed with seven seals. 2 I also saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or even to look in it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or even to look in it. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered so that he is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw one like a slaughtered lamb standing in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll out of the right hand of the one seated on the throne.
8 When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song:
You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slaughtered,
and you purchased people
for God by your blood
from every tribe and language
and people and nation.
10 You made them a kingdom
and priests to our God,
and they will reign on the earth.
Revelation 1:9–18 (CSB):
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the affliction, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard a loud voice behind me like a trumpet 11 saying, “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
12 Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me. When I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was one like the Son of Man, dressed in a robe and with a golden sash wrapped around his chest. 14 The hair of his head was white as wool—white as snow—and his eyes like a fiery flame. 15 His feet were like fine full strength.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, 18 and the Living One. I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Hebrews 10:19-23

2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
John 14:1-6
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. John 3:1–8 (ESV):
3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

As we consider the great things that God has done,
The Gospel, the Good News of our salvation in Jesus Christ,
All the goodness of God toward us that we do not deserve,
We cannot help but praise him.

Christ Our Hope,
in life and in death,

Exodus 33:12-19

And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Take a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect: What are you weary from? What burdens you? Take to heart Jesus’ promise of great rest.
Lord Jesus,
You invite us to draw near to You,
And You promise to draw near to us.
You invite us to seek You with all our hearts,
And we will find You.

As we look at the world around us, broken as it may be, in turmoil though it may be,

1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
Father God,

Romans 8:12-15
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
“Sons of God” is a song taken directly from the words of Romans 8:12-15. Listen and worship, considering the wonder of having been adopted into God’s family.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Take a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect: What are you weary from? What burdens you? Take to heart Jesus’ promise of great rest.
Lord Jesus,
Our lives are filled with
All sorts of
Action and activities,
Thoughts and worries,
Things going on in the world around us.
Quiet our noisy hearts,
Still our restless hearts,
Fix our eyes on You,
On Your cross,
So that we see You perfect love,
Your great compassion,
Your mercies anew each morning,
That we may love You
Depend on You,
Find You sufficient for this and each day.
Draw us to You,

I waited patiently for the Lord;

1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
What a good, kind, loving compassionate Heavenly Father we have - the Perfect Parent. Worship with “Good Good Father” and rest in His good care for You.
God comes good on all His promises; He is the faithful God. In Joshua 21:43-45, we are told this when God gave Israel the Promised Land:
Thus the Lord gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possession of it, and they settled there. And the Lord gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the Lord had given all their enemies into their hands. Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
We can trust God in every one of His promises! He is the One who supplies all we need, who sustains our lives, from whom we receive every good thing. May we trust and stand on every promise of His word, for our good and His glory.
We live in times of upheaval and uncertainty. On top continuing to grapple with COVID-19, we are facing continuing and renewed struggle with racial issues as people of colour fight for justice and equality and freedom from oppression and racism. May we keep this particular issue in prayer at this time.
Lord our God,
Our Good God,
Perfect Heavenly Father,
You see these turbulent days we’re in.
You see our world, broken by sin, havoc wreaked on it by evil.
We’ve seen the depravity in people’s hearts. How could anyone do some of the things we’ve seen, Lord?
How Long, O Lord, until You return and do away with all evil?
Come, Lord Jesus, come!
Come, and lift the oppression -
We pray, especially for our brothers and sisters struggling under the weight
Of facing discrimination, fear of harm, just because of the colour of their skin.
Lord, help us to take up their cause,
To love them well,
To show the dignity and respect,
Because they, like us, are made in Your image,
Fully loved by You.
Lord, forgive us of attitudes and thoughts
That are not pleasing to You.
Conform our attitudes and thoughts
To Christlikeness,
That we may honour You,
Even when no one is around.
Forgive us when we ignore or forget those around us;
Turn us to You, help us to see Your heart for all,
Especially those oppressed, treated wrongly.
And as we prepare for more opening up
Of our province,
Help us to be kind and compassionate,
Believing the best of people,

Exodus 15:1-3, 11-13
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord. They said:

Psalm 27:1-3, 13-14
The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom should I fear?

Take a few moments now to consider who God is -
-How is He mighty?
-How is He ruling over this world and in control?
-What things dare to compare to Him? How do they pale in comparison?
-In light of this, what about God do you worship Him for?
If God cares for the stars, and by His might makes sure that none of them are missing, how much more He cares for us, knows our name, and by His might, cares for each of us?
1 Timothy 1:13-17
Formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Lord Jesus,
You came into the world to save sinners.
That’s each one of us.
Lord, we all were rebels against You,
In our hearts,
Wanting our own way,
Not yours.
Our ignorance came from unbelieving hearts.
But Lord Jesus,
Your grace overflowed to us.
Our sin - it is great.
But we have a far greater Saviour in You,
And Your mercy is far more, sufficient to wash away our every sin,
All our guilt,
And bring us to new life, salvation, eternal life.
So Lord,
We confess our sin. (Take this time to confess any sin in your life to Jesus).
Thank You that Jesus died to bring us forgiveness of our sin.
Forgive us our sin.
We praise You for Your mercy for us.

Listen and meditate on the words of this new song, “Forever Jesus” and remember that as great as the troubles are in the world around us, we have a far greater King and Saviour, so we need not fear - instead, we can bring Him all praise.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Romans 8:18-21
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
James 1:2-5
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. There’s not a moment, day, or circumstance that we do not need our Saviour, our Lord. We are foolish when we think we can make it on our own - and wise when we take all things to Him in prayer and depend on Him for all things.
Make “I Need Thee Every Hour” your prayer.

Adoration - Telling God why we love Him.
Lord, you are the good God, the mighty God, the holy God, the faithfully loving God - for all these things and more, I love and praise You.
Confession - Confessing our sin to God, repenting of it, and seeking His forgiveness, knowing He freely gives it.
Lord, I’m a sinner. I have done ___. Have mercy on me, forgive my sin, through Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving - Telling God the things in your life that you are thankful to Him for.
Lord, thank you for being so good to me. Thank you for Jesus who died for me. Thank You for providing for my every need, for never leaving or forsaking me, and for being my strength and wisdom.
Supplication - Asking God for particular things - needs, requests, etc.
Lord, we need you. Come and give us your strength in our weakness, your wisdom in every decision, your help in every situation, your hope in dark days, your healing in physical illness, your strength in our muscles and minds as we are weary. Lord, help!

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

With Jesus Christ, no matter what seems to be going well or going wrong in our world and our lives, we can confidently say, “It Is Well - It is well with my soul!” As we close, listen, sing along, and rejoice that He brings calm in anxious times because He is our solid rock, He loves us, He is with is, and He will see us through to the end.

Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you. In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained.
Join in imitating me, brothers and sisters, and pay careful attention to those who live according to the example you have in us. For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame. They are focused on earthly things, but our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.
So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends.
Questions for thought:
-How do you see growth in your Christian life over the past while?
-How do we know Jesus? How can we deepen our relationship with Him?
-What about heaven do you look forward to? How can we grow more “homesick” for heaven?
-How can we reflect Jesus in our daily moments and tasks? In response to various circumstances?
We’re called to follow Jesus day by day for the rest of our days, loving Him, growing to know Him more, growing more in His character, likeness, the fruit of the Spirit, seeking Him each day.

These are extraordinary times. Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Take a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect: What are you weary from? What burdens you? Take to heart Jesus’ promise of great rest.
Lord our God,
You invite us to draw near to You,
With our weaknesses and weariness and waywardness,
For the rest for our souls is found in You.
Give us a fresh vision -
A renewed sight of Your faithful love,
Your mercies, new every morning,
Your gospel that saves and gives life.

Hebrews 12:1-3
Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways.
In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son.
God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him.

Questions for Thought
-Count your blessings today: what good has God brought into your life? Take a moment in prayer to thank Him for these things.
-What losses, big or small, have you experienced? How will you give these over to Christ and consider Him as better than these things?
-What things are hard to give up? How is Jesus better than these things? How can you hold these things loosely, enjoying them but not worshiping them?

Romans 8:35-39
“Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

Because of you we are being put to death all day long;

Father, our good & perfect Father,
You have called us Your children,

How amazing it is to be called a child of the King - yet that is what we are; Your reign goes to the ends of the earth. Lord, reign in our hearts and lives; may be willing to do Your will, following Your way, each day.
Father God, You see what we need each day - physical, mental, emotional needs. Healing, strength, wisdom. We pray for this, thankful for Your new mercies each day.
We confess that we do sin. Lord, we have not loved You as we ought, we have not obeyed You as we ought, we go our own way. Forgive us our sin.
Help us as we face temptation. Give us strength to resist the enemy. As alluring as sinful desires may be, give us strength to stand fast, stand against. Keep us from evil; help us to respond to evil in godly ways.
We pray these things in Jesus’ name.
In your Bible, read and meditate on Philippians 2:12-18
12 Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

17 But even if I am poured out as a drink offering on the sacrificial service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
18 In the same way you should also be glad and rejoice with me.
Questions for Discussion
-How can you keep Christ forefront in your mind more? How will you respond differently in light of His grace and love for You? How will you be conscious of living before Him each moment?
-What are areas you may be tempted to grumble and argue in? How can you see good and encouragement in those areas instead?
-In areas of hardship or suffering, where is God good and helping You? Meditate on His goodness and rejoice.
Make “Jesus, all for Jesus” your prayer as we close today.
Hebrews 13:20-21
Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus—the great Shepherd of the sheep—through the blood of the everlasting covenant, equip you with everything good to do his will, working in us what is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
