Worship from Home, June 21, 2020

These are extraordinary times. As we worship from home, follow through this post, pausing to think about each reading, listening to each song, praying at the appropriate times, and listening to the recorded message, for a personal or family worship time at home. Please note - there is information at the bottom of this resource about how to give in this time. As well, there are copies of Our Daily Bread in the front entrance of the church.

Important Announcement - Re-opening

We are pleased to announce that in-person worship services at Kingsboro Baptist Church will begin next Sunday, June 28, at 11am. We are excited to be able to gather again together.

We will be re-opening with great care in accordance with the guidelines from Health PEI. With this, keep the following guidelines in mind:
-If you have traveled outside PEI in the last 14 days, experienced symptoms related to COVID-19 (such as new coughing, shortness of breath, fever, etc), or been in contact with someone who has, we ask that you stay home. We will continue to provide online worship experiences.
-Follow social distancing measures: maintain a 6 foot distance between households, keep a gap of 3 empty seats between households when seated, and keep traffic moving to prevent congested traffic zones.
-Please use hand sanitizer upon entering the building; refrain from hugging, handshakes, etc.; please refrain from singing at this time.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Take a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect: What are you weary from? What burdens you? Take to heart Jesus’ promise of great rest.

Opening Prayer

Lord Jesus,

You invite us to draw near to You,
And You promise to draw near to us.
You invite us to seek You with all our hearts,
And we will find You.

Lord Jesus,

Fix our eyes on You,
Help us to seek You,
To love You,
With all our hearts,
All our souls,
All our minds, and
All our strength.

Renew our strength,
Increase our love for You
As we worship today,

We pray, in Your name,
Amen.

Worship in Adoration

Psalm 150

Praise the LORD!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD!

Everything - each one of us
Praise the Lord.

Praise Him for His mighty deeds, for His excellent greatness.
What has God done in your life?
How do you see Him as great?

Sing along to “All Creatures of our God and King”

Matthew 7:28-33

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

As we look at the world around us, broken as it may be, in turmoil though it may be,
As we wonder what tomorrow might look like for our world or our own lives,
We remember our great heavenly Father who has been incredibly good to us,
Providing for what we need each day as it comes.
And we worship.

Confession of Sin, Assurance of Forgiveness

1 John 3:1

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

Father God,

You have loved us.
You have made all that we see,
You have made us in Your image.

But we rebelled against You,
Gone our own way,
Forgot You in pursuit of our own pleasures.
Sin blinds us,
Makes us think we’re getting something good,
When really, it leads to death and destruction.

Father God,

We confess that we have sinned,
And that we are unable to save ourselves.

AT THIS TIME, TAKE A MOMENT TO CONFESS YOUR SIN TO GOD.

Thank You, Father,
For sending Your good and perfect Son
To pay for our sin by His death,
Going to the cross in our place.

Thank You for the forgiveness of our sin
That comes through Him.
Thank You that through Him,
We are brought back to You,
The God of life who wholly satisfies.

Thank You that in Him,
You call us Your children;
We are sons and daughters of the most High King.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.

Prayer Time

Our Father in Heaven,
We do praise You and honour Your name as holy.

We thank You that You have
Reconciled us to Yourself
Through the blood of Jesus Christ.
We thank You that You no longer
Call us servants, but Your children,
Adopted,
And that in Christ,
You are our Father.

We thank You that You delight
To give us all that we need and more,
Lavishing on us Your goodness,
So that we shall not want.

We thank You that You care
About every injustice,
Every hurt,
Every sorrow,
Every anxiety,
And You hold us in Your hands.

Thank You for Your great love,
The perfect love of the perfect Father.

Thank You,
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

At this time, bring any particular prayer requests to God.

Romans 8:12-15

So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

“Sons of God” is a song taken directly from the words of Romans 8:12-15. Listen and worship, considering the wonder of having been adopted into God’s family.
